Digital Mapping

Top Survey Professional is a ‘platform independent’ consultant. We ensure that our data is compatible with all major GIS from ESRI to MapInfo to Google Earth. GIS also depends on layers of data being accurately geo-referenced relative to each other. Our Surveying background means we have advanced knowledge of data capture techniques, map projections and coordinate systems and therefore accurately referencing data.

Data Capture

Data collection is the most expensive & time consuming (60-80%) part of a GIS system. TSP can provide a range of data from geographical coordinates of location to a full asset description or condition report including geo-referenced photographs.

TSP records the location of assets using Global Positioning System (GPS) technology. Three distinct levels of accuracy are available depending on the project requirements.

Survey Grade. RTK GPS solution gives an accuracy of <50mm recommended for Manhole Surveys, Borehole location surveys and Utility Inventories.
Sub Metre. Our DGPS solution gives an accuracy of <1m. Habitat mapping, Environmental mapping and Billboard location surveys are typical of the type of project demanding this level of accuracy.
Navigation Grade. This solution provides an accuracy of <5m. A popular solution when precise asset location is not as important such as Countryside Walks and Trails.
